This program offers a unique opportunity to expand your repertoire and engage in collaborative musical experiences with string musicians. Our curriculum focuses on a multifaceted approach to piano playing, including in-depth discussions on technique, interpretation, music history, piano repertoire, and the legacy of renowned pianists of the past. The masterclasses provide an invaluable platform for growth and development as a pianist while fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of the art form.

In addition to the masterclasses, participants can collaborate with other musicians in ensembles such as Piano duets, trios, or quartets accompanied by strings. This collaborative experience will provide an avenue to enhance musical communication, creativity and artistic expression. The program promises to be a challenging and stimulating journey toward mastering the art of piano playing, leaving students with newfound skills and a richer appreciation for the power of collaborative performance.

ACCOMODATIONS:  Gaglardi Academy (1475 Noel Ave. Comox)


  • accommodations are dorm style, with rooms for males, females, LGBTQ+ and a quiet room.
  • CYMC will provide 24 hour supervision for campers.
  • Camp counsellors will have cell phones for emergencies and urgent messages.
  • Gaglardi Academy has Wi-Fi service for the campers use.
  • Our local hospital, North Island Hospital Comox Valley, is only a 10 minute ride away from the school with a 24 hour emergency department.
  • We will be providing a continental breakfast in the mornings at Gaglardi Academy as well as bus services to all events and rehearsals.
  • campers will be provided with sleeping cots, please bring your own sleeping bag or linens.
  • There is a general 11:00 PM curfew for all students staying at the accommodations.

MEALS: Lunch and dinner at George P. Vanier 4830 Headquarters Rd, Courtenay


  • Lunch and dinner breaks will be  at 12:00pm and 5:00pm.
  • Short breaks at 10:30am and 3:00pm.
  • We are set up to cater to vegetarians and those with food intolerances/allergies.
  • Breakfast will be served continental style in the mornings for overnight campers.
  • Lunch and dinner will be served at George P. Vanier School for those who are registered as campers at Gaglardi Academy, and for those who have paid the meal fees.

heck-in and registration for Classical String and Piano campers

  • Sunday July 2nd at 10:30am at Georges P. Vanier Secondary School, 4830 Headquarters Rd, Courtnenay, BC.
  • Sunday July 2nd at 11:00am Meet and Greet with the faculty members for ALL String Orchestra and piano students at Georges P. Vanier Secondary School. Parents welcome.
  • Lunch will be provided at 12:00pm for those who are camping and those who have paid the meal fees.
  • Classical Program campers will be transported to Gagliardi Academy (1475 Noel Ave. Comox) at the end of the day’s programming to set themselves up for the camp.  


Classical Program Students

  • Classes begin after lunch on July 2nd (1:00pm)
  • Classes will run daily from 9:00am - 5:00pm at Georges P. Vanier Secondary School with a break for lunch at 12:00pm.
  • Faculty concert in Courtenay.  Students not overnighting at Gagliardi Academy will need to arrange their own transportation to and from this event.
  • We will have other scheduled outings in the evenings (TBA)  
  • Finale concert in the afternoon of July 8th.
