Week-long Percussion for dedicated young musicians.

Using warm-ups, rudimental technique, and engaging repertoire, percussionists will learn the fundamental skills needed to enjoy performing in situations of all types! Students will gain independence, build confidence, and develop their skills by improving their ability to read music and perform basic structures. Attention will be given to each singer’s individual skill level. Join masterclass instructor Jon for an incredible week of learning, drumming, and fun!

I enjoyed working in groups

– Anthony

I loved how just in two weeks, many things were covered and we were exposed to many different styles of music and other forms of art as well. It gave me new ways to approach my technique. Teachers were inspiring – new ideas for approaching my practice.

2021 Classical Music festival

We will be hosting an outdoor afternoon of socially distanced celebrations of music!

The CYMC Music Festival will be held outside on July 10th at the beautiful Anderton Nursery in Comox. Friends and family are invited to enjoy an afternoon of fresh air and fine musicianship, while students are offered the opportunity to show off the repertoire they have worked so hard on.

In addition to our talented students, members of this year’s esteemed faculty will also have the opportunity to participate! Vocelliano Trio, consisting of Classical Faculty Head Helena Jung, Vocal Camp leader Carol Anne Parkinson, and local piano teacher Dagmar Kilian will start the day’s events. Once the students have had the opportunity to present their pieces, the afternoon wraps up with a performance by Tyson Doknjas, Kathryn Wiebe, Jessica Pickersgill, and Erin Tinney of Cascadia Strings, our acclaimed 2021 strings faculty.

It will be an afternoon of celebrating the lessons and relationships built over the week’s camp and will conclude the 2021 summer program.
