Oscar Robles Diaz is a versatile multi-instrumentalist, music teacher, recording artist and composer. Oscar has a Bachelor’s of Music degree from Mexico’s National University (UNAM)’s classical guitar program. He performs regularly as a soloist in such projects as Zandhunga, Blues Report, Loose Gravel, Café Olé and Azucena Flamenco. Oscar teaches acoustic guitar, particularly flamenco style, and bass. He also teaches several types of drumming and percussion: electronic and acoustic drum kit, cajon, djembe, timbales and many other percussion instruments. His extensive knowledge in Latin and African styles is largely thanks to clinics and workshops with such greats as Lamine Thiam of Senegal, as well as master percussionist from Mexico Candido Hernandez, with whom Oscar has collaborated extensively on several different projects.
Oscar is excited to join the CYMC faculty as guitar specialist in the summer of 2019.
