2021 CYMC Classical Program

July 5th – 12th

We are pleased to host a variety of classical programs this summer.

We are honoured to invite the Cascadia String Quartet, a well-known young and keen Quartet who will be holding the virtual Strings Program and the Junior String Orchestra. Carter Johnson will be holding the virtual Piano Program. Carol Anne Parkinson will be leading the Junior Choir Camp and our new Vocal Camp. The CYMC Classical Music Festival on July 10th is open to the public and will be a relay of performances, concluding the CYMC classical music program.

CYMC gave me the inspiration to compose, arrange, perform and improvise.  The passion I have for performing and recording music is a direct result of the educators that I learned from. Their creed for the art of jazz and classical music rubbed off on me so positively that the only way I can breathe is through my horn.

Meet our Program Director…

Helena Jung

Music director of the Strathcona Symphony Orchestra

Helena Jung has had a diverse career as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, and teacher in Vancouver Island, B.C. She vigorously pursues an eclectic repertoire, having performed with many well-known pianists, as well as with the Vancouver Island Symphony since 2005. Helena has held her own cello recital series; “Cellobration” and her students` concerts’; “Hello, Cello!” since 2007. At the pinnacle of her career, Helena is exhilarated to lead the SSO to unprecedented feats and enrich the Valley with music unlike any other. Her passion for music can be heard in her work and always leaves concertgoers eager for more.
