Paule Prefontaine – Baroque Violin

Paule Préfontaine has lived in the Ottawa region since 2001 and has been active in the chamber music scene and regularly plays with the National Arts Orchestra, 13 Strings, and Ottawa Symphony. She has enjoyed a versatile career as recitalist, soloist, orchestral player, chamber musician, having performed throughout Canada, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Ireland and Finland, and in broadcasts on CBC Radio and for the Norwegian Radio Kringkasting.As a member of the renowned Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, she toured Europe, Canada and the United States, appearing as soloist at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. In her orchestral career, she has been concertmaster of Orchestre des Concerts Symphoniques de Gatineau, MusikBarok Ensemble of Winnipeg, Niagara Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre des Jeunes du Québec. In addition, she was assistant concertmaster of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra from 1988 to 1993.She currently plays in Quatuor Lumière, a string quartet that specialize in classical period repertoire. She is also a member of Ensemble Prisme and the Ottawa Baroque Consort. Mrs. Préfontaine is an active teacher both privately and as an adjunct professor at the University of Ottawa.
