ISLAND JAZZ

2 years minimum experience on your instrument

July 16 – 22, 2017

If you are an aspiring jazz musician you need at least one week with these very inspiring musicians.  Students arrive on Sunday at 1:00 and are immediately immersed into Big Band swing.  Opportunities to jam abound, both organized and spontaneous.  Jazz students always bring big appetites which are amply satisfied by our wholesome camp meals.

A rigorous schedule of master classes, seminars, improv sessions, combo practices and big band rehearsals fill Monday through Friday. A Question and Answer session with the faculty and an opportunity to watch the jam follows each lunch hour. Ensembles, formed early in the week, will play at the Friday evening jam in Cumberland, giving everyone a chance to solo. The camp culminates in an outdoor Big Band and Combo concert for the community on Saturday night.
